Meet Marcy

Marcy Fitzgerald is a Certified Nurse Practitioner dedicated to improving the overall health and wellness of women of color, with increased focus on the health of black women.  Long underserved and with health outcomes often less favorable than our non-POC counterparts, Marcy believes this population deserves passionate advocates committed to our health.

As a certified nurse practitioner within a federally-qualified health center serving the underserved, Marcy has demonstrated her commitment to ensuring each patient receives the highest quality health care.  Her upbeat, energetic and engaging style allows her to connect with her patients and build trust in a unique way.  This empowers each individual to actively take charge of their own health and employ behaviors which help them to achieve their best health outcomes.  Her passion for minority and community health has also led her to launch Our Health In Focus, an organization committed to reducing disparities in health outcomes.

Marcy graduated with honors with both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from the University of Cincinnati.  Prior to this, Marcy also graduated with honors from Florida A&M University with a BS in Computer Information Systems and from the University of Michigan with an MBA.  She held the positions of systems analyst and finance manager prior to embarking on a career change more in line with her passion for health.

Marcy’s ability to connect with people across every demographic makes her a sought-out speaker, panelist, and facilitator for a variety of health topics.  She has engaged thousands of individuals in both live and virtual environments. In addition, she served as the Mid-Western Region representative on the National Mental Health Task force for Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and and has facilitated mental health roundtables and webinars for both Jack and Jill and The Links, Incorporated.

As a former fitness instructor, Marcy remains a fitness enthusiast and is adamant about walking the talk when recommending lifestyle modifications as an integral part of most patients’ treatment plans.  She is also an avid reader and still enjoys playing piano after taking lessons for many years.

In 1999, Marcy won the title of Mrs. Ohio America and was a top ten finalist in the Mrs. America Pageant.  She was also a member of the 2000 and 2003 NFL cheerleading squads for the Cincinnati Bengals. In 2023, Marcy was honored to be nominated as a Greater Cincinnati American Heart Association Woman of Impact.

Committed to community service, Marcy is a member of the Cincinnati Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, the Queen City (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and currently serves as the Regional Nominating Chair of the Mid-Western Region of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated.
